For those of you that are ever in need of inspiration and a push in the right direction for motivation then you should read Lance Armstrongs book Its Not About The Bike.
For those of you that don't know who Lance Armstrong is....which I will be surprised.......he is one of the worlds leading professional cyclists and has won the Tour De France 7 times the first of which believe it or not he didn't win until after he had overcome his biggest obstacle......Testicular Cancer.
In a recent article I read in Success Magazine, Lance was asked how he had got himself back in the saddle after beating cancer. He responded by saying the he pretty much did the following (this is an abridged version and not word for word)
1: He decided that he was going to do it - He changed his belief systems and convinced himself that he could do it.
2: He re-trained his body to levels that he had never taken them to before. He saw the cancer as an opportunity, because it had made him more leaner therefore making it easier for him to climb mountains on the bike.
3: He went harder, faster and stronger than ever before
4: He failed - But in every failure he saw an opportunity to improve and get better.
5: He had the backing of friends, family and team mates behind him
6: He faced all the fears that were in his life head on and beat them knowing that he had beaten the toughest thing......death!!!
I think in current times we can learn a great deal from Lance Armstrong when we are own challenges in life. I am not trivialising cancer, far from it, but I am showing you how you can turn adversity into opportunity and thrive.
Keep that head up and keep positive.
