Alter Egos.........
Everyone has the power of greatness. Not for fame, but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service.~Martin Luther King
I love this quote as it reminds us that we all have the ability to become great at everything we do. However the fire of greatness won't be lit inside you unless you can set it alight......
So how do you go about doing that then? Its really simple you will be pleased to hear!!!
Firstly decide on what it is you want to be great at or what in your life you want to be great (now you really have to think hard about this and make sure that it something that you have an unwavering conviction that you can achieve it) This is where a vision board comes in......
Then.....are you ready for this.......take INSPIRED ACTION......NOW........do something, no matter how small it is, to move you one step towards being great.......
The next step to keep you on the path to greatness is to link massive pleasure to taking your inspired action.......if it is to lose weight, imagine how it will feel to fit into those jeans you have never been able to get into......imagine how you will feel when you fit into your wetsuit without showing all your wobbly bits.........
People normally do things for two main reasons, either in the avoidance of pain or the gain of pleasure.......decide on what motivates you more
Everyone one of us has bigger person waiting to poked, pushed and prodded into action, a person that has the brilliance of mind and radiance of personality to think of new ideas, seize on new opportunities and achieve huge things....it is amazing when that person is awoken from its slumber and put into action.....it amazing what you will achieve....this person holds the fire that you need to succeed...
So what are you going to do today to wake up your alter ego?

Even in the tough times......
we should always make a big effort to spend time with the people that mean the most to us in our lives. The people that support you when the going gets tough, those people that love you unconditionally......
One idea that I have used with my partner is to create a date box.....this has given us a source of fun, memories and excitement each week to look forward to. The premise is simple and is a fantastic way to make sure you do something with your girlfriend/boyfriend, family, friends or by yourself.
Now this is where I go all Blue Peter on you.....firstly get yourself a medium size box (a shoe box will be excellent). Then decorate the box as you see fit (we have put gold wrapping paper round ours). Then label the box....i.e. Cath and Dave's date box or the Davies Family Box of Fun!...or something along those lines.
Then get as many pieces of paper as you like and each person writes as many activities as they can and puts them in the box. They can be simple things like going for a country walk, going to the pub for a drink or as different as going to the Museum of Science and Industry or going Salsa dancing.
Take it in turns to pick an idea out of the box and make sure you stick to them. Make them fun and remember the reason you are doing it.......
In a world where it is very easy to suffer from the doom and gloom disease, make your life and the life of your significant others a better place to be by making it different and fun together....

What is shaping your thinking at the moment?
What are you reading at the moment? What are you listening to on your MP3 player (or Walkman for those of you who haven't joined the digital revolution!!)? What kind of people are you talking to at the moment?
I ask these questions because the material we read, listen to and hear from peers and colleagues can have a big influence on the way you think, act and feel. If you are in a negative state of mind it is normally because you are thinking negative thoughts......but where do they come from? They come from within you, but you have to ask yourself the question what is feeding them? Are you consuming material that is conducive of a positive state of mind? Are the people you are talking to giving you positive advice or are they doom mongers!
Take a minute to think about this and then act upon it. Start reading positive literature (some books can be seen at the bottom of the page), do something positive as soon as you wake up such as exercise. On the way to work, listen to some positive music that gets your positive juices flowing or a positive CD such as The Secret or something from Tony Robbins. Surround yourself with people that will support your positive state of mind and reinforce the reasons why it so good to be alive and kicking!!!! (There are plenty of groups you can join in your area or on the web)
These are all things you can do right now.....take action and keep your positive and proactive mind in sync with those people who are going to give you positive reinforcement.

Just when you feel like giving up.......
......be happy because you know you are nearing a breakthrough!!!
Have you ever experienced in your life when you have been striving to get something or somewhere and feel like giving up, because you feel like you are never going to get there and you have put so much effort, time and passion into it achieving the end result. Well let me tell you fear not!!!! This is good news for you because these are the moments you make the biggest gains and you will achieve your goal!!!
Exciting isn't it!! Remember in your moments of despair you become stronger when you stick to your resolve and don't give up!!!! You are an amazing person and have more power and resilience than you give yourself credit for!!
So stick to those new years REVOLUTIONS and keep going!!!

The First Hurdle........
Well 2009 is here and in full swing and I can imagine quite a lot of you are determined to create a healthier lifestyle for yourself!!! But WHY? Are you doing it because everyone else is doing it or are you doing it because you feel its the right thing to do? We often fall at the first hurdle of any healthy lifestyle changes because we lack a clear reason as to WHY you are doing it?
It is imperative with creating the life that you want, that you focus clearly on what the changes will give you and NOT as many people do on the difficulty of doing it.......YES it is going to be hard to give up smoking if you have smoked 20 a day for many years......YES it is going to be hard to go to the gym to train 5 times a week if all you have ever done is use the sauna/steam room!! But think about what these New Years Revolutions will bring you and add to your life. Maybe they will bring you the following:
It is imperative with creating the life that you want, that you focus clearly on what the changes will give you and NOT as many people do on the difficulty of doing it.......YES it is going to be hard to give up smoking if you have smoked 20 a day for many years......YES it is going to be hard to go to the gym to train 5 times a week if all you have ever done is use the sauna/steam room!! But think about what these New Years Revolutions will bring you and add to your life. Maybe they will bring you the following:
- More energy, vitality and enthusiasm
- A healthier body and mind
- Weight loss - (if followed correctly)
- More opportunities
- Greater focus on your goals
- Clearer mind to solve problems
- More confidence
And this is just the begining of the wonderful journey you will encounter when you are clear on the pleasure that the new healthier lifestyle will bring you rather than focussing on the pain of having to start from the bottom! The more you focus on the positives, the easier it becomes to achieve your goals.
For those of you that do fall at the first hurdle....all is not lost......this experience gives you the chance to refresh your goals and gain clarity......the biggest reason we fall at the first hurdle is that we are not clear on the WHY?
Choosing to go healthy gives you unbounded energy and enthusiasm for life, which can only be positive......so why wouldn't you do it?
