Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "couldn’t be done," and you’ll do it.

Quote of the day.......
We will receive not what we idly wish for but what we justly earn. Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service."

Quote of the day......
"Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse I entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today? Mary Manin Morrissey

Quote of the day..........
"Be enthusiastic about your decision. It's YOUR decision! Reach, seek risk! Don't ever stop. Follow your thoughts and don't listen to those who tell you, you can't do it.It's your life and you can achieve.....You can do it!!" Sirleny Rodrigues Garcia

It has been a while since I have updated this blog! Sorry for the absence, it has been a fantastic and busy year so far. I have recently taken to watching talks on TED talks and if you have never seen these before, they are a fantastic HUGE collection of interesting talks from different people on different topics. I have posted the link of one of the talks that really interested me. It is by a guy called Shaun Achor and it is about happiness in the workplace. His style, content and demeanour are superbly engaging and it never fails to make me listen and smile. Happy watching:

Quote of the day........
"When the archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bull's eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim - improve yourself."

Quote of the day.........
"Goals give you more than a reason to get up in the morning; they are an incentive to keep you going all day. Goals tend to tap the deeper resources and draw the best out of life."

Update.........
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
Julius Henry "Groucho" Marx
1890-1977, Comedian and Film Star
I love the above quote as it highlights the element of choice we have in our lives. This time of year is seen as challenging by a lot of people as we have been off on a wonderful break for Christmas and New Year. Getting back into the "swing of things" can often leave people feeling low, depairing and demotivated.
Why not make a change in 2012 and view returning to work as the fuel you choose to ensure that you have a fantastic year. Work is the how you get somewhere, its what you do with what you earn that makes the massive difference.
So for those of you that are bemoaning the fact that you are returning to work after a superb festive period, remember it becomes a lot easier to return to work when you have a clear understanding of why you are going in the first place!!
It certainly focuses your mind on the positives and allows you to choose the attitude you are going to take towards each day.
Happy 2012, I know it's going to be an amazing year!
